Yoga Retreat for ASL Interpreters: New York

Join yoga teacher Lila Lolling and ASL Interpreter Andrea Perry, for a 4-day self nourishing retreat, dedicated to rejuvenation and professional development. Set in the natural setting of the Western Catskill mountains, this retreat is designed to blend nature, yoga, and professional development.

 Lila guides the soul-nourishing part of the journey and teams with Andrea to cover the how-to's of interpreting yoga. Deaf yoga instructors Beatrice Bachleda and Keri Brooks provide the vocabulary and classifier sessions, giving you a wealth of sign choices. 

Each day you'll breath in fresh mountain air, release bodily tension, and take time for self-reflection. You'll enjoy delicious farm to table, plant-based & vegetarian meals. On your free time, you are welcome to go walking in nature or visit stores in the quaint village.

Hosted at Streamside Yoga Retreat Center in Andes New York.

7:30am - 8:30am: Meditation & Dharma Talk: Practicum

8:45am - 10am: Hatha Yoga Class

10am: Brunch

11am - 12pm: Free Time

12pm - 1:15pm: [Saturday] Interpreting Yoga with Deaf Yoga instructor Beatrice

2:30pm - 3:30pm: Intentional Self-Care

4pm - 6pm: Interpreting Yoga Practicum

6pm: Dinner

8pm - 10pm: Evening Meditation + Dharma Talk

ARRIVAL

Thursday: between 2pm - 4pm.

Gentle movement & sound therapy session 4:30pm - 6pm. Dinner 6pm. Inaugural ceremony 7pm.

DEPARTURE

Sunday 1pm: retreat concludes.

Graduation + Certificates Sunday 11am.

TRANSPORTATION

Andes NY is 2hrs by car from Albany and just under 3hrs from NYC. Trailways bus service has a stop right at the retreat center. You can find the Trailways bus schedule here.  There is also a private shuttle service that is a direct route to and from Albany airport and Streamside retreat center for an additional fee. WHAT TO BRING + ACCOMMODATIONS

Comfy yoga clothes that enable you to sit on the floor, or in chairs comfortably. The mountains tend to be cooler, so bring some layers just in case. Also if you plan to take a short walk to a rail trail or a mountain forest hike, bring a pair of good walking shoes. Also bring your swim suit if you'd like to go swimming. The studio is fully equipped with yoga props, so you can use theirs or bring your own. Also bring a journal, travel mug for hot tea or coffee. 

The retreat center provides morning coffee and light breakfast snacks.

Retreat tuition includes homemade plant-based & vegetarian meals, accommodations, yoga classes, workshops, manual, and RID CEUs. If you have a roommate preference, please mention that in the registration form.
