Event Description
You’ve chanted Om so many times. But have you been taught what it’s pointing to?
In classical Advaita Vedanta, Om is much more than a sacred sound. It’s a map of reality: how one unchanging awareness appears as the many layers of our experience. The Mandukya Upanishad opens with a single line, “Om is all this,” and shows how each part of the sound corresponds to a layer of who we are.
In this one-hour we’ll explore:
Om as the mantra of mantras: what a mantra is, and why Om is considered the root of them all
The Map of Aum: the waking, dream, and deep sleep states, and the silence of Turiya beneath them
The physical, subtle (astral), and causal bodies, and the koshas that make them up
