Technology + Device Fasts

Life is happening all around you. But do we notice it? Or is your face and attention in a screen? If you're looking down, which you likely are while reading this, then you are not alone.

However, technology has had a negative influence on our relationships, causing us to become more and more superficial, leaving many of us feeling isolated, insecure and empty. Simultaneously, technology is what brings us together around the world, so we feel a false sense of connection.

According to rewire.org humans average 11 hours of screen time per day.

Because of this super high number, and my own addiction to screen time, I am a fan and advocate of technology screen fasts. Whether one minute, 30 minutes, one hour, or one day+ screen fasts are forced rewilding sessions, giving us the privilege to act according to our intuition and to connect to the world around us. By connecting deeper into life, we shift our awareness into the natural world.

This reunion is scientifically proven to reduce blood pressure, calms the nervous system, restore vital energy, generate a sense of magic and wonder, and help the person to remember they are a small, yet integral part of the interstellar web of life.

But to experience this, you have to first look up from the screen.

INVITATION: Schedule a screen fast for later this week. Decide how long you will do it. Keep to your commitment. Set an alarm to remind yourself or to create a beginning and ending chime. Journal about what came up about being disconnected from the artificial tech world. What emotions surfaced? What thoughts came up?
